Sonny Angel Animal Series Version 4 is one of the core animal-headgear assortments from Dreams, but the box here is not just a loose figure with an uncertain origin. It is a sealed blind box in the earlier turquoise Version 4 design, identified as packaging from around 2014. For collectors sorting similar animal figures across multiple series, that intact box supplies the most useful evidence: the edition name, the complete regular lineup, and the promise of an additional secret.
The 12 regular Animal 4 designs
The photographed assortment panel names twelve regular figures: Horse, Goat, Chihuahua, Shiba Inu, Mongoose, Hamadryas Baboon, Calico Cat, Skunk, Japanese Crane, Peacock, Duck, and Snake. It is an unusually broad mix. Domestic animals occupy only part of the set; the birds, snake, skunk, mongoose, and baboon give Version 4 a distinct identity among Sonny Angel’s recurring animal themes.
Those printed names are more dependable for identification than color alone. Sonny Angel keeps the familiar cherubic body while changing the sculpted headgear, and animal ideas can return in later assortments. A loose dog or bird therefore should not be assigned to Version 4 simply because it resembles one of these subjects. Compare the sculpt, paint colors, and exact animal name with the twelve designs shown on this box.
What “12 kinds + secret” actually means
The package states that the series contains twelve kinds plus a secret, making thirteen possible designs. The secret is not pictured, and no numerical secret ratio is printed on the photographed panels. Dreams’ official Animal 4 information adds an important case-buying qualification: a factory assortment contains twelve blind boxes, but secret figures are random and may not appear in every assorted box. It also cautions that even an assorted box may not contain every type.
That makes the secret a collector-described chaser: it is an unpictured, non-guaranteed pull outside the twelve regular designs. “Chaser” is collector shorthand here, not evidence that Dreams officially branded the figure as a capital-C Chase. It also does not justify assigning odds that the package and official product page do not provide.
Figure format and why this box matters
Dreams specifies Animal 4 figures at approximately 75–100 mm tall, or about 3–3.9 inches, depending on the headgear. They are made from ATBC-PVC and weigh about 32–34 grams. A single retail package is approximately 50 mm wide, 102 mm high, and 45 mm deep. Those measurements help distinguish the standard standing mini-figure format from later Sonny Angel formats such as Hippers.
The turquoise box is also part of this product’s collector identity. Its front explicitly says “Series Version 4,” while the side panel preserves the named lineup and “12 kinds + secret” structure. For a sealed-box collection, look for that version wording, readable character panel, intact flaps, and consistency across the aqua printing. The available photographs show ordinary age-related edge and surface wear, so condition-minded buyers should inspect the corners and flap seams rather than expecting a decade-old carton to look newly printed.
Sealed, opened, or collecting by character
A sealed example preserves the original blind-box experience and the period packaging, but it cannot promise a preferred regular figure or the secret. Character-focused collectors may prefer an authenticated opened figure, where Horse, Calico Cat, Peacock, Snake, or another design can be chosen directly. Box-focused collectors should keep the package paired with any opened figure because its printed lineup is valuable provenance for an edition that can otherwise be confused with later animal releases.
At $15.99, this product was priced as one sealed blind box, not as a twelve-box assortment. Availability can change, and the official full-box language should not be read as a guarantee about a single pull.
